Are all the drivers bolted in tight?
Yes all drivers are presently bolted on as tight as they will go. I notice that the tweeter seems to be diffrent from the other models I have seen on google images, was it modified to you?

Make sure there is some sort of gasket between the drivers and enclosure.
ANY air leaks, no matter how small, will have a negative impact on speaker performance.
I have used More-tite rope caulk for this purpose. Available at most hardware/home improvement stores for $5- $10.

That tweeter has been altered in some way. The angle between the two rectangles is not correct and the wire cage is missing. The missing cage might be your culprit. I would replace the tweeters. Do they both look like that?
They should look like this.

Unless they are from an early production run. The first Large Advents did not have protective cages. The angle may be correct as well.

Has anything been replaced in the crossovers?
I believe that to be true, although I had never seen one until now. I read it somewhere, but the uncaged tweeters rattled and were replaced with the caged model shortly after production started.

They were also fragile and extremely easy to damage. Advent offered to send cages so customers could install them for added protection. This was before Advent started manufacturing the tweeters with the mesh cage.
I'm guessing you're clipping the amp.
Could be, but my money is on the fragile early production tweeters.
True. The tweeters could already be damaged and the effects only evident during high level passages.
Thanks for the help everyone, I think it might be the tweeters inherent problems being a early production model. I am currently running it with my Sansui G901DB (G9000DB variant) which should provide more than enough power.
More like look for. They don't make them anymore, but they aren't too hard to find in the wild. You might try starting a WTB thread in Barter Town. I just sold a spare that I had yesterday. There was a pair on that auction site a couple of days back. They might still be there. I can't link it here because it's against the rules.
I think I have a wonky pair, so I posted it on craigslist for $75 for a loss, since its in remarkable condition. I don't want to spend more money or time on this anymore. Thanks everyone for your help
sorry you have given up. The problem with the woofer might be as simple as a broken or fallen off wire to the woofer, crossover or a solder joint in the crossover. Relatively simple to address if you want to, but as you indicate, time is money and neither is working for you. Have the next owner pop up here and see if we can't help him troubleshoot the problems. Nice of you to pass them on for a good price though.
