HELP !! Please Leak amplifier

  • I insert baxandall tone stack into the leak tl/50 amp. but it's not working. When I remove the ground wire the amp plays fine. see the schematics here:
http://www.44bx.com/leak/Leak/Circuits/tl50_ecc83.JPG
I placed the baxandall between the ef86 and the 12ax7 and all values are the same except my treble pot is 1M. See Baxandall here
http://www.coolwire.co.uk/littleone/images/LittleOne1.3.gif
The amp plays great except the signal is not going through the tone stack. No sound from the amp. Then I remove the ground wire on the
treble pot and the amp starts playing fine but not through the tone stack; it seems to bypass it.
Any help will be appreciated.

I don't think tone controls are going to work correctly in this amp. Its sitting in the middle of a feedback loop which will mostly cancel out anything the tone controls do. You could disable the feedback I suppose, but that would introduce different problems.

honestly if I had this amp and wanted tone controls, they would go upstream of the amplifier and the amp itself would remain as-designed.

if the issue is poor bass, do a frequency response test on the amp to verify its working correctly first. Not sure what Leak's specs are, but I'd expect 20-20k to be flat within 1db at 1 watt if things are working properly. If it falls off a cliff down low, something is probably wrong with it.

I fix the bass problem by using a preamp but No tone stack on it. I appreciate your help.

I know it is said not to put tone stack in negative feed; though I have seen it a few times. I don't have that kind of knowledge> Really appreciate your contribution.
