Help Request - Speaker Outage

I'm posting this here because although it's my speaker that is going out, I think the issue is being caused by the pre amp or receiver.

This is my first set up and as such I'm fairly certain I'm making some sort of basic rookie mistake. My set up is as follows:

Sanyo TP 1020 tt > Art DJ Pre III pre amp > Denon DRA 365R receiver > Klipsch RP 400M speakers

So, initially, when I tried to use the turntable, as soon as the needle hit the record, the speakers would make a 'pop' sound and then not play anything. Through some online help, I was able to figure out that my mistake was having the pre amp plugged into the phono input on the receiver when I should have had the turntable plugged directly into the receiver and (optionally it seems?) the pre amp plugged into a different (CD or video) input. So I made that adjustment and it seemed like everything was working great. However, now I can play a record for about 5 minutes at most until the speakers make the same 'pop' sound as before and then shut down. At that point the record just plays off the turntable. I am able to listen to the radio continuously from my receiver without the speakers popping and shutting off so I don't think the issue is with the receiver and speaker wiring.

I've been piecing together this set up over time and am super excited to finally get it up and running so any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping it's just a minor adjustment that needs to be made. Thank you everyone!!

This receiver has phono input, so it has a built in phono preamp, so you can directly connect the turntable to the receiver with the phono input. That's how I'd try it. Then see if you still get the pop sound.

Since it plays for a few minutes before shutting off, I’d suspect an issue with the built-in phono pre inside your Denon receiver. Try to use your separate ART DJ phono pre on the CD or AUX input and see if it plays for a while.
Hook the turntable to the ART DJ input - then the ART DJ output to the CD or AUX input on the receiver.

Yes it sounds like protection circuitry in the amp.

I'd there a click from the amp when it cuts out? And if it has just gone silent, can you switch right away to another source to see if there is sound?
