Help the noob! Is this a good buy?

Well I was finally home to set up and listen to the stereo! I am pretty impressed with the sound quality and overall power
Here is a photo of the system now. I have to do some re arranging to get the two tower speakers away from each other but for now its ok. One question though, to play my laptop through my stereo I just run my y cable (Two RCA and a mini) into the Tape "Play IN" correct? There is no AUX on my system. And in which speaker ports do I plug in a sub? Thanks!

I bought a similiar system and to be frank it was a mistake, i purchased a full sansui set up like that and have only used it the few times I have demoed it for people from my craigslist ad to dump it. Even a simple inexpensive integrated from the 70s would provide you with better sound at a lower price... now if this is a garage system or you really do like the asthetics of the system than sure go for it.

You could have done a lot worse and bought one of those "super bass" shelf systems. I'm sure you're thrilled with that setup right now. Try keeping an eye out for some cerwin Vega DX series. If you like what you hear with those big booming technics you will love love love some cv's as you get a little older you'll want a little more refinement and start going crazy looking for the perfect sound. But be warned this is a damned path once you get on it. You may never be satisfied and may never find the elusive sonic nirvana. You may be content and think you found it for a while but its like a drug. Though unlike more quantity with street drugs you need the purer stuff to get off. No matter how many sh+*y speakers you surround yourself with they just won't do it. Hmm ... better go for a "super bass" if you ever want peace in life. :thumbdown: f- that. Keep looking kid

I bought $1200.00 worth of all Pioneer Equipment
(in my sig below) in 36 Hours on Ebay.
I was purchasing pieces to rebuild my stereo set-up,
I had back in 1978, that I foolishly sold a year later in 1980.
Had to wait 35 years to do it again,
but I've never had so much fun purchasing
Stereo Equipment in my life!!!
I don't know what your Budget is,
but its like buying a 250cc Motorcycle,
when your a begginer.
You master it and then outgrow it in about 6 weeks.

Yes, you can use a tape in for your computer. I wouldn't put my computer on top of speakers like you have, though.
No, you cannot use a subwoofer. There's no provision for it from the amp. You * may* be able to use the Center Out connectors and configure the amp to run the center channel in full range for a powered sub. Then just trim the highs from the sub itself, but your better off leaving it alone. You have 2 massive tower speakers in a small room. I doubt you need any more bass.

if you want more bass inexpensivly get a 100w powered subwoofer that has left right inputs, it pulls the low freq out and sends full range back to your towers
