HELP - What's my best options??

Looking for better bookshelf speakers for a DJ studio setup (records and digital). I currently have a pair of Reference Audio R50S hooked up (no subwoofer), but looking for a better sound with decent bass. The RA's are ok...but the highs get distorted when cranked too high. Below are my current options. All prices are in Canadian dollars. It would be great to get feedback on the top choices from best to worst. My DJ room is very small...but this may change down the road. I'm also willing to shop around for a subwoofer for any of the options below if it means that it would result in a MUCH better sound.

1. Keep the RA's the I have and hook up a powered subwoofer

2. Pair of used Cerwin Vega VS-80 plus Onkyo SKW-100 subwoofer for $120. May be able to knock down the price to $100.

3. Pair of used RCF Monitor 5S for $70 (anyone know much about these?)

4. Pair of used Wharfedale Valdus 200 for $50.

5. Used pair of Cerwin Vega E708 plus a Cerwin Vega E76C center speaker. Looks like the seller is also throwing in a single Cerwin Vega LS-8. All these speakers for $130. One thing that I'm hesitant with this deal is that one E708 has (original?) black screws holding the 8" driver, while the other speaker has silver screws. This makes me think that they were opened up...and who knows what was done to them. Oh...and none of these speakers have grills/covers (which I don't think is a big deal).

6. Pair of used JBL Loft30 for $75.

7. Pair of used JBL N28 for $140 (may be able to knock down the price to $120)

8. Pair of never used Cerwin Vega LS-8 for $95. Might be able to knock down the price a bit

Ask me,those all look like lateral moves,not improvements.
And the budget seems kinda tight to make a decent jump up in terms of SQ.

And often better speakers will need better amplification to sound their best...
So what's the current gear for this set-up ? What sorta amp are you using here ???

If I had to choose,I'd probably go with option 1 myself.
But that typically just opens up a whole new can-O-worms...

Thanks for the welcome xero! Although a new member, I often found myself coming to this site to get info on products! Everyone here seems to know their stuff!

I knew the I would be asked on the rest of my setup. Well, get ready to laugh. I'm using a JVC stereo receiver as my current amp. It's a JVC RX-R76TN Stereo Receiver that I am also hoping to eventually upgrade down the road. Turntables are 1200 MK2s and currently using a Numark DM200X mixer which eventually I'll be upgrading to a Pioneer 800 or 900. Also directly hooked up to the stereo (phono input) I have a Pioneer DL-255 direct drive turntable. I use this to listen to my records.

I'm not looking for a high end professional setup. Just something better where I can feel the music "thump" on occasion without dropping thousands of dollars.

Ask me,those all look like lateral moves,not improvements.
