I keep getting a low pitched buzz in the right speaker, it is barely audible when idle but when I play a record it gets louder than the music and shows on the receiver's VU. At first I attacked this like a grounding issue or bad connection on R-, but now I'm out of ideas.
I replaced the ground terminal with new wire directly to the chassis (same spot as original) and the tone arm is grounded to that, I also disconnected the DIN connector which had R- and L- tied together. I've tested connections all the way from the cartridge leads to the end of the RCA cable with the highest measurement at 002 and from the ground screw on the tone arm to any screw on the receiver is 0. Of course I started by cleaning all connections and ensuring they were solid.
I have tried 2 head shells with 3 cartridges that all work on other TT's with no issue. I have a second identical tone arm with wires, but hoped to have some insight before I replaced the current one.
This TT was very close to free for me and is the only heavy TT I have. I like my tunes loud sometimes...
My daily player is a Hitatchi L33 linear tracker but it rumbles when the tunes are loud unless I put it on the ottoman while its playing. So I would like to get this one working then get a good cartridge for it.
My receiver is a Technics SA-203, I also get the same result on my much newer Sony with an "eBay special" pfantone pre-amp.
