help with a speaker rebuild

I have a pair of speakers that i really love - the Chartwell PM400 and the the Dynaco A25XL. There is a definite difference in sound between both the PM400 are quieter with less mids and highs (they sit on the floor). The A25 (are on 23'' stands)are all original and sound great but are louder at the same volume level when I switch form A to B.

My question would be is there anything i can do to the Chartwells to bring up the mid and the highs a bit? right now i play both of the together but i will separate them soon when i get my Mcintosh amp and pre-amp.

PS. the chartwells don't have the original woofers they were switch by the PO

thanks

Look at the xover and see if there are any resistors used to balance the newwork, then rebalance them, or find a less efficient woofer...

You might also change the original caps (if they're standard NPE's) to film caps. That will usually "brighten" the mids and highs up on their own.

As DC stated, if there are any resistors in line with the mid or tweeter, you could try lowering the value, or even eliminate them altogether.

If there are resistors, you could try to jump them (with a test lead) first, and hear if it makes a difference. This will give you a starting point to replace or remove them.

Pics would assist us in helping you with this.

Have Fun. Good Luck.
