Help with AR XA

Everything about it has been some kind of issue but what I need help with is the motor/pulley configuration. The pulley is small, almost looks like the starter pulley from the 2 motor versions but I don’t think that’s the case. I obtained a regular xa 2-speed pulley but the hole is way too big for the shaft. With the belt and current pulley I can get the platter to spin but it’s slow, about 30 rpm. Is this a model that existed or a Frankenstein turntable I got ripped off on? Please help

Looks like the older TA . Did you try putting a few drops of oil to the motor? might just need some lube. Also clean out the
platter bearing shaft and oil that too. Then see if it speeds up a bit.

I attempted to clean out bearing well and lube shaft, I will try on motor and see if it changes anything. I know it is an older model after dealing with the bearing wells and t-bar but I haven’t seen one with the small single pulley like this which was my main concern.
 
I think you've been had. There are a couple of different motor versions, so that's why your pulley doesn't fit. I wonder if that is a starter motor in there? Those that can ID that motor should be here any minute.
 
I am by no means an expert but it looks like someone used a late model top plate with an early T-Bar. Those delrin bushings are horrible and will crack and seize up, so not surprised its tight. The pulley looks like a Linn pulley to me.

Does the tonearm have an aluminum pivot or is it delrin like the bushings?

correct, somebody cobbled this table together with an array of various XA and other parts. the motor is from the two motor table, but missing the starter motor. The subchassis is from the two motor table, the top plate and base from a mid production XA. have no idea what that pulley is from. looks different in diameter at the crown than the AR single speed (2 motor). it should measure 0.603" at the crown. the counterweight is from an XB

I figured something wasn’t right, also the counterweight seems really heavy. I think I’ll try to pick up another one and just part this out. I got it cheap enough I can live with it, i was just hoping there was simple I was missing.

It has derlin in the tonearm. I think I’m just gonna pull it apart and use it for parts at this point.

the counterweights for the XA and XB weigh the same, only the XB77 was lighter. The XA counterweight is brass, the earliest of XB counterweights were brass. the vast majority of XB counterweights were steel.
