Help with car cassett deck, distorted in one channel

I made a video to better explain my question. Basically, in my wife's Honda CRV, she uses a cassette adapter to play her iPod in the car. In the last week or so, it started being really distorted in the left channel via the cassette deck.

If I turn iPod volume way down it sounds clean and also if I play the radio or a cd it sounds fine. The distortion happens with multiple adapters and multiple ipods/ phones. I do not have any cassettes to test with.

Any idea what is wrong?

Good video of the problem. I probably do not have any real answers but I would say that the adapter is over driving the left channel on your car head. Might be something wrong with the car cassette deck too.

Without a clear measurement of the cassette deck outputs to the car's heads. Really can't tell.

My guess is that just run the input from Ipod low and adjust the car deck for listening level.

Thanks for the reply. It's odd that just the left side is distorted. The wife mainly listens to audiobooks in there, so I guess we will just pan the sound right and deal with it.

She's due for a new car pretty soon anyway.
