Help with Cerwin Vega D7's. Possible recap?

hey audiophiles. Need help. Just bought a pair of cerwin vega d7s. Was listening not too loud and one went out completely. Blew a fuse. Replaced fuse and the woofer doesn't work at all now. And the mids and tweeters sound faint and terrible. I should also mention that the attenuator knobs for mids and highs have never worked since I had them. My guess is that the crossover components failed? Caps failed in open position? Please help! Cheers. - Saint Reed

Seems very strange. I assume that you've already tried the red reset button on the crossover? You might just open them up, check the wiring, and then test each driver individually. Some deoxit on the knobs probably wouldn't hurt.

I had issues with the fuses in my D-9's blowing, but only at VERY loud volumes. I wrote to Cerwin-Vega and they said I could replace the stock 2.5 amp fuses with 3 amp fuses. No problems after that.

Hey Chris! Thx for the quick reply. So I did test the red reset button. Seems to not work the way its supposed to. I did a visual and everything looks OK. Not burnt. But old and original. Already went to a 3 amp fuse. I am gonna recap either way. Want advice on which components to replace and with what brands? I attached a pic of the crossover. I have deoxit and will try spraying the knobs. Any other ideas? Thank you!
