Help with Equalizer hook up.

Hi. New here. Kinda. I got a Technics SH-8017 EQ for cheap cheap. I need help connecting it to my KR6400. I read (after buying it) that it connects to a preamp outlet? The 6400 doesn't have those. Or a tape loop? Doesn't have that either.. I hooked it to Tape A. EQ in to Play. EQ out to record. Nothing. Can the KR 6400 even connect to an EQ? Any help is greatly appreciated. Please. When responding keep it as none technical as possible. I am a true layman, novice....ah....dumbie. Thanks Mark

Hi beatnik. I don't have a amp. I have a receiver. I'm going out of the EQ out to the record on tape A and from EQ in to play on Tape A

You have it connected backwards, just switch the cables at one end, which ever is easiest to access.

Think about If you connected a tape deck, record would go out to the tape deck's inputs, play would be coming from the tape decks outputs eh?

Ok. Thank you all. I've gotten different answers from different members and have tried all variations. AND we still haven't gotten to the selector switch question. Like where do I put the switch and is the EQ supposed to work with my tape deck, CD player and FM tuner.
This shouldn't be this difficult. Seems like Just a guessing game. The end result is not worth the trip. I bought it for $20. Just sold it for $30. Thanks to all for the input. Ill stay away from equalizer in the future. My KR6400 sounds awesome without one. Why fix something that isn't broken. What was I thinking??!!. I must of gotten hypnotized by all the pretty lights on the EQ. Lol

Well, if not getting this now hopefully you'll never decide to use these extra inputs for say a DAC that allows connection of a new tv etc. I know it's nice having this, makes it easy for my lady to use the tv in the living rm. No matter what other source I was listening to the night before with the flick of one switch (tape A monitor) she's in business, the tape deck selector switches override all others.
 
Hi. Yeah. I have a newer Sony AV that I can hook my TV to without a DAC and all that stuff. I'm trying to add things to a mid 70s receiver that weren't invented when the receiver came out. I should just use it like it is. It sound great paired with KLH model 17s. it's rejecting the equalizer and it doesn't want TV signals going through it. I'm going to have to respect its wishes.Thanks again

The signal to the REC output jacks will be from the source chosen by the input selector switch, ie: FM, AM, CD, PHONO etc.

SOURCE INPUT > REC OUT jacks > EQ > TAPE IN (jacks) > AMPLIFIER > SPEAKERS. The TAPE MONITOR switch must be on in order to receive the processed signals from the EQ. EQ is bypassed when the tape monitor is switched off.

I have early 70's gear with new tv's connected, just need a DAC, easy peasy. And just so you are aware, there were EQ's way back in the day, there's no reason other than user error that it didn't work eh?
