Where is the turntable sited in relation to other parts of your hi-fi, particularly the amplifier or receiver? Because magnetic cartridges pick up hum very well, it’s essential to keep them away from amps and receivers, as they are prone to picking it up from the large electro-magnetic field surrounding the transformers in amps or receivers (also TV’s, monitors and computers).
It’s best to keep them at least 6 inches (150mm) away, preferably more. If they are too close, try re-arranging things – components which will be better close to a turntable include low power consumption components – cassette decks, preamplifiers, graphic equalisers or tuners are better than anything with a power amplifier or monitor in it. Good luck.
