Was given a cabinet stereo that has am radio and a turntable, but searches have turned up very little info. The am works, turntable doesn't. The tag on the front says Philharmonic Stereo High Fidelity, the writing on the am receiver has Stereophonic. There are even some schematic papers glued to the inside, but I haven't been able to get any usable info when I search. I want to see if I can get the whole thing back operational. Pics for your perusal...

Also appears to be a series string hot chassis unit so take caution when working on it outside of the cabinet. This means it has no power tramsformer.

It also has a tube line up like the All American Five radios of the 40's and 50's.

Look up AA5 radios on wikipedia.org

Ya, if no power transformer the chassis will he hot. One leg of the mains will be tied to it. You could get a pretty nasty shock. As for restoring that radio chassis,
All electrolytic caps should be replaced. The one big multi cap can can be replaced with individual caps underneath if there is room. It would most likely be cheaper than buying a new cap can. If your going to attempt to repair it yourself, DO be carefully with that hot chassis. I do like the console.

There usually are some identifiers on the back panel but I'm assuming you already checked that.

Pictures of the receiver in the cabinet will help might be able to ascertain based on if there is a logo of any sort

Maybe try a different search engine. Symphonic was popular in the 50's and 60's. I have a Symphonic hot chassis amplifier and my uncle had a Symphonic record player when I was growing up.
