Help with Lafayette Tube Receiver

[John Toye]

Hope everyone is doing great. I recently purchased a refurbished Lafayette LA-230 Tube Receiver. Having a hard time finding information on it. I have found out that the model may be similar to a Kenwood (Trio) KW series but it stops there. I have the unit connected to a set of Forte I's and it sounds amazing. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

One of the first pieces of tube gear I ever found was a Lafayette LA-224A.

I found this blurb, which led me to the posted link. Hopefully it'll help you in your research

"The LA-230 uses 16 tubes and delivers about 12 watts per channels using pairs of push-pull 6BM8 tubes. When it was repaired, I was told it uses the same schematic as a Trio (Kenwood) W-36 receiver."

The 6bm8 tubes are still being made too

Compare the Trio W38 too.

Thank for all the feedback. Surprised there isn't more information out there. Appreciate it.

Compare pics of the KW40 too. These are pretty similar in the amp section at least.
