Hi there, I was just given a Marantz PM5005 and a set of Klipsch RP-160M speakers. I'm having trouble getting the right speaker wire to connect these two. Would be grateful for some advice please.
The initial problem was that I went to a couple of stores and they both gave me these banana plugs (pic 1). It seems these are called BFA banana plugs? These didn't fit into either the speaker's post or the amp's post. The diameter seems to be too large, and I would have had to really force them into the holes. (I removed the plastic inserts on the Klipschs.)
I then realised spades would work on the speakers, so that end of the problem was solved, but spades don't seem to work on the PM5005. It looks to me like the PM5005's posts accept only bare wire, or some sort of plug, but I don't know which one. (Pics 2 and 3 of the back of the PM5005.)
- Does anyone have experience of what plug would fit into the PM5005 please?
- And if there isn't a plug solution (though I'm guessing there must be one), and I have to go the bare wire route, are there speaker wires that have bare wire on one end and spades on the other? (Pic 4 of the spade connector I bought.)
Thanks so much!
Update: went into another store and got regular banana plugs. Solved. Not sure how to delete this post.
