Help with Potentiometer

I have a walkman unit with a faulty pot. The carbon trace on the L channel is completely rubbed off. This is what the outside looks like:

I found this one potentiometer that might work, but I'm confused about the circuit. I need a dual gang potentiometer to replace the one in my photo.

It's for a stereo volume, so it has L and R channels. There are 6 contacts, 3 for each channel. Each channel has 2 contacts for the outer carbon trace; 1 contact goes to the output and one goes to ground. Each channel has 1 contact for an inner carbon trace. When you turn the pot, a wiper makes contact between the two carbon traces.

Here is a photo of the inner carbon trace, you can see the damage on the trace (there is zero carbon left).

But I don't understand if I can use it or not. Physically, it's close enough that i can adapt it, but I can't tell if the circuit is correct. It says on the datasheet that it has dual and single "unit" versions, but the circuit doesn't make any sense to me. I think if there are 2 separate circuits then I could figure out how to adapt it, but I don't get this schematic at all. This is an excerpt from the datasheet showing the circuit:

Can anyone tell me if this has 2 channels or not?
If so, can I adapt it to work in my walkman?

I think I've determined that the circuit is the same. I was just confused because I didn't realized that the original pot has a shared ground interconnect.

Now I just have to figure out how to physically stuff the thing into the existing housing.
