Help with setting up a yamaha p2200 w/ pioneer sx1250

OK So I know this sounds odd and people might say why the heck would you want to do that...but it's partially to test something partially just to test out the p2200's I have as I don't have any other preamps.

So I am not familiar with non integrated amps requiring a preamp and I have also never tried using the preamp outputs on the pioneer sx1250. Included below is a pic of the back of my Yamaha P2200. I first want to simply hook up two speakers, a left and a right, to the yamaha coming from the pioneer. My question is how to properly run the wiring. The yamaha has a channel A and a channel B both with two sets of phone jacks in addition to the other input jacks. I plan to run a mono RCA to phone jack from the preamp on the 1250 to the input on the p2200 for the left and another cable for the right.

Would I simply hook up left speaker to channel A, right speaker to channel B on the yamaha and then what? Do I run the two single RCA cables (one being the left channel and one being the right channel) and plug one in to channel A and one in to channel B? There are two inputs for each channel which is what confuses me, I am not sure if that is a left and right input or simply two mono inputs. The manual for the P2200 is beyond my comprehension haha..

You just use one of the inputs for each channel. I think they're simply in parallel to daisy chain off to multiple amps.

As far as the speakers, yeah, just connect as normal to the amp's terminals.

For the RCA to 1/4" adapters, be sure you get 1/4" mono/unbalanced/TS adapters, not balanced/TRS adapters.

So I'm not sure if I have something hooked up wrong or if something isn't functioning properly but let me know if this sounds right.

I ran a single RCA cable from left pre out of the 1250 to a phone input jack on channel A on the P2200 and then the same thing for the right pre out of the 1250 to channel B on the P2200. I have one speaker hooked up to each channel on the P2200. So...now what? Should I be able to use the 1250's FM and such? I tried tuning to an FM channel but I don't hear anything at all. I don't even hear blank noise through the speakers as I increase the volume on the P2200 which I find strange. I heard the P2200 in action before I purchased it so unless it broke from sitting around for a couple months..

Anyway I figure one of you guys will probably point out something I'm doing wrong or something to check at least.

So I changed the two single mono RCA to Phone cables and use a Y RCA to single phone to channel A on the p2200 and I get sound. How do I configure this for a stereo setup to both channels?
 
Can you attach picture(s) of the cable and adapter setups, of those that worked and those that didn't?

Alternately, specific part/model numbers of the cables and adapters I can look up online?

My speculation is it's a problem with the adapters, but....
 
Attached are some images. One is simple a Y to single phone, but I think this only connects makes speaker(s) on that channel work and I'm not sure if it's a stereo or mono signal?

The second photo is simple two single rca to phone cables - one from left pre out to channel and one from right pre out to channel b. I tried swapping the two different inputs on each channel of the p2200 as well.

I'm very curious though, if you could provide a model/part number of the adapters shown in your picture?

Most Radio Shacks have the necessary adapters on the shelf, if that's an option for you.
 
I think everything you see is just the crappy radio shack stuff. The adaptors were definitely radio shack, the cord itself might have been some other brand they sold at radio shack. I stopped there today and paid their high prices to get a quick fix so I could experiment with this equipment that is gathering dust (literally.) I don't know if I went to a crappy radio shack or what but they had a pretty large selection of adaptors and cables but they literally only had ONE of each. This goes for almost everything even down to the speaker wire spools and banana plugs. I wanted to get some banana plugs and such but they had only a single one (not pair) on the shelf for every type...weird...

I just purchased the correct parts online and some extra stuff to have around. I went ahead and purchased actual MONO RCA male to 1/4" male cables so that no adapters are required.
