Help with speaker ID?

Picked these up at the GW. They sounded ok with a very brief bit of testing. Going to hook up soon to see how they really sound. No badges or marking with an ID that I can find. Anyone have any idea? of the the tweets are ripped, but other than that rest seem ok. The cabs need some help.

There doesn't seem to be an easy way in to these. There is some black hard tar like stuff around each driver and no way through the back.

Looks like they're from the shack, probably the early shack. How do they sound.

Not even mentionable compared to some A400's. I tried them against some smaller Advents and they were a not even close. The Advents have been recently tuned up though. The mystery speakers sound like they are missing something and hollow. I'm sure these could use some help though. I have some Nova 8B's that really came to life with some new caps.

Possibly HH Scott. The tweeter and midrange appear to be CTS-made. Cannot tell about the woofer. Compare this photo of a Scott S-15 (10" CTS woofer in the S-15):

There were some late-1970s Lafayette speakers that resembled those in the OP as well - those were almost certainly Asian-made, though.

Those do look real close. I was able to pull the drivers out and will take some pics as soon as my camera battery recharges.

They're cool, whatever they are. A recap would almost certainly improve the sound.

The crossover is covered in the same black tar stuff around the speaker. I have no idea what is under it or if I can even get to it to see.

That black tar was in this elite goodman's I gutted recently. I hate it, Cos the bloody thing in mine glued across everything, the cover was clued onto the tweeter and the cabinet ... mess.

The "7106" on the back of the tweeter is quite likely a date code.... 6th week of 1971.

You can usually soften up that black tar by heating it with a hair dryer or putting it in direct sunlight.

That is correct - and I was obviously in space (fooled by appearances).
Now I have no idea what these are. They'll probably sound pretty good with new crossover capacitors (if accessible) and if the woofers are OK.
