help with speaker mfg code id 451553-1

any help appreciated!

i have a 15" woofer with mfg code 451553-1 on the cone

there is a 15" woofer on ebay that has this same mfg code listed--seller says it is a vintage altec speaker

i cannot find any reference to this mfg code anywhere--any ideas?

The manufactures code will be on the frame or the magnet. The code you supplied can't be a manufactures code because the last three indicate the 53rd week and year 5. Of course there are only 52.

Not a genuine Altec cone. Likely an "off brand" recone kit was installed at some point. Could have even been the replacement offered by Altec at one point.

803A should have a smooth(not ribbed) cone, and an untreated paper surround. I am of course referring to the one on ebay.

Bobwindsall, can you post a pic of the speaker you have?

You can check completed auction number 260838133626 to view a correct 803A cone including the proper font and part number on the back of the cone.
