Help with Technics SA-202

Hi

This is my first time on Audiokarma

A friend told me this is the place to come.

I have a Technics SA-202 receiver

Resistance R-706 is burned and I need to know the value to replace it.

I've searched for schematics but only found a very blurry sheet and can't read the value

Anyone who owns a SA-202 who could tell me the value?

Is r706 a large power resistor?

Hi & welcome!

First off, you need to know what caused the resistor to burn. Second, if it's a stereo amplifier/receiver, it should have a mirrored circuit between the left & right channels.

If the burned resistor is part of the right channel, then look at the left channel to get a color code & spec.

If it's in the power supply, then that's a different story.

I don't think it's part of a specific channel. I've circled in yellow what I believe are the mirror circuits for the channels.

In blue is the missing resistor and in green, a leaky cap which I removed (and of course, it's easy to read to value right on it

Can"t tell from this pic, but the resistor looks like a 1/4 watt.

Looking at that horrible schematic, it's connected to the yellow transformer wire, and appears to be 2.2 ohm.

From the schematic it seems to be a 2.2 Ohm resistor. A kind of current limiter. Check the capacitor C704. If this cap is shorted it may explain why the resistor burned.

Thanks ecluser, that's what happened. I removed the cap.
