Help with xlr to 1/4" cables.....

I have a behringer cx3400 crossover on its way that uses all xlr connections. My crown power amp uses 1/4" inputs but they are mono. I have found xlr to 1/4 cables, but they appear to be stereo 1/4" plugs?????

Which Crown amp do you own? It may be balanced in, in which case the cables you found would work great. But, we should try to get the terminology correct. A three-conductor 1/4" plug can be used for stereo (as in headphones), or in the case of most amp inputs, it would be a balanced (mono) connection. You'd still need two for stereo use, one on each cable. I do have an old Crown D-150II that has 1/4" TS jacks, and as such is an unbalanced input. But, most newer Crown amps have 1/4" TRS jacks for balanced inputs.

If you know that your 1/4" inputs are unbalanced, then we can help you in building a cable, if you are into doing the DIY thing.

Old crown, dc300a....big brother to your 150 IIRC. I read the manual online and it warned of using three conductor plugs(thought they called it stereo, but yes as in headphones) said something like you could use them but had to use something so they wouldn't insert all the way...???

Should I just bite the bullet and use the xlr to rca adapters.....I was hoping I could just buy new interconnects, as they are actually cheaper than the adapters(unless there is a better source than pe for them)

Perhaps you could find a direct XLR to 1/4" TS with a bit more digging.

Yep, I have those second ones for my amp already. I ended up finding some xlr to rca adapters on the bay......got enough to make the back of the cx3400 all rca inputs.
