Those Maine Coon Cats are some big old cats! Best thing about them is that they're sweet as can be too, lap kitties all the way.

Yep. I have a stray that's either Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat (I lean towards the latter, she's a bit smaller and matches the Norwegian coloration better). She's been the most friendly, docile and loving cat for 15 years now.

Wow...in a week and a half it will have been 15 years since I found the fuzzball. Halloween night 1995 in an ice storm.

Strays and rescues are the best, no doubt about it.

I had friend years ago, who had an unaltered white female cat who escaped one night and showed back up a few days later in a "delicate condition." Fast forward a few weeks and 6 kittens were born. All had tufted ears, and bobbed tails. Three tabbies and three white. They got huge. She kept the biggest male, and he ended up weighing almost 25 pounds, and not an ounce of fat on him...

I was really surprised at how sweet they were. A little standoffish till they got to know new people, but nice cats.

Our Maine Coon Cat is 11 years-old now.....and around 23 pounds.
He's sooooo sweet, and follows my wife around the house.

I have a cat that I think has some Maine Coon in him He is 16. The little guy can send teeth and claws flying if you dont feed him but he is a lap kitteh all the way!

I have on thats a unique buff color. I thinks they're great. Super friendly, follows us around the house where ever we go. Best part? They are generally a quiet cat.

That is one big cat! Maine Coons are nice kitties, but I've never been owned by one. My kitties have been rescued from the Humane Society, etc., so I pickup whoever adopts me... much like my Sabrina pictured here. Picked her up to cuddle at this rescue event, she immediately curled up on my shoulder, and that was that. Her shy demeanor passed quickly, as evident by her walking on my keyboard, swatting at my wall calendar, and finally ending up curled up in my office window, all in the time I typed this reply.

Amazing. I long for the days when Yahoo! used a simple interface - took a full minute to load that page with all the links, ads and associated junk...

Tesla or Einstein said that wireless was like a very long cat...you pull the tail in New York and it meows in LA. Only without the cat. Which must have been a Maine Coon.

I'v eheard the term in westerns "Get a long little doggie" but it may be time for a change.

As long as they're well-supported it doesn't bother them a bit. Show cats are used to being handled that way. Looks like the big guy's used to it as well...he's lookin' right at mama with a nice kitty smile.:)
