Putting the Hifi together again. 1st Parts

Ordered from my Hospital Bed :-) Walnut Orbit Turntable with the Ortofon Red 2

Could be fun, have a few backups to if SX-780 has any issues, Backup #1 Sansui QR-4500 Stereo Quad Receiver.

Being retired and basically a hermit now I have done more listening to the sound systems and spent more money in the last year than I haver have. Even when changing my long time Stereo system into a 7.0 HT system in 2008 and 10. I at least get in 4 to 6 hours day some times 12 or more. TV is nothing but reruns and things that don't appeal to me. I detest dark movies and TV shows. Is there no happiness in this world. I guess Covid has most of us on a downward spiral. Russia and China don't help with their antics either.

I hear ya, I'm at the point now where I watch zero TV. None. Not a big movie person either. Music, reading and tinkering are all the diversions I need. News is just depressing and I can't affect any of it anyway.

Yet another card-carrying retired hermit, here. There’s a 48” Sony mounted above the window behind my speakers. I almost never turn it on. It’s music or reading, or both. In deep winter in northern Wisconsin, what else is there?
 
The TV thing is crazy, complete and utter crap in general. But as my mind tried to find things to keep busy and from going insane in that Hospital, I did enjoy some You Tube Hifi related stuff. I watched 6 hours of a guy refurbing an SX-747 :-)

I keep in touch with brass players performances on you tube, the former REO of F-14's, the Marine and Navy Bands. Once in a while North Texas and Michigan University wind bands. Mnozil Brass Group is always fun. Then there are random lectures and educational pieces I watch. But my favorite musical diversion is WQRX from New York City. I learning I like a lot of classical stuff I have never had the patience for when I was younger. Their New Standards stream is my favorite though. A lot of big Band stuff along with great vocals, both from the 50's and current. The classical channel is their 105.9 FM HD channel. But I still use my 3 bx DBX expander because WQRX some times bangs the limiters pretty hard when strong prominent bass is to be heard. Last night I listened to an Hour of music and history of Florence B Price a very talented Piano/Organist who composed Symphonies and many vocal, Piano and Organ works from the early 1900's through the Mid 1950's.
