I don't think I need to post the entire page but you get the idea, make your own mind up on where mac is going in the future! Better get a second job if you wanna keep up with the Jones. Buying nothing has never been hip till now. I think I have a pile of broken stuff that might catch on pretty soon. Now I know why I've been keeping broken stuff laying around, well I didn't know until I saw this.

I'd like to see 2 huge racks filled with like 10 of just these things in each rack and a set of tiny bluetooth speakers on some high $ stands flanking the 2 racks. With the caption saying "McIntosh" "You're not just paying for the name!" Then stating the price of the system ($30,100 + stands) and posting the specs of the $100 Bluetooth speakers.

Then collect opinions from people that were invited to listen to it.

Maybe I posted this in an unpopular location, I expected there to be a bit more commenting going on than this?

Since it is AK the cutting edge is not expected to see much action but I never thought it was this far off the beaten path!
Who can tell me how many views it has? How can I find out?

This was taken from the "TONE" website, I stumbled across it and I have to say that I will be visiting it regularly, I have to say that I rarely find review sites interesting or informative, or even have anything relatable with the authors in any way. But seeing this made me a fan, nobody has the balls to say what they are really thinking in this day and age. It's all a bunch of worrying submissive followers who have to ask their wives if it's ok for them to do anything. Tone has the balls in the right place and that's obvious after reading his review. I'd be worried only if I was a manufacturer that's putting out crap and Tone has one of their products ready to review. This guy will go buy what he can't get sent to him. He seems to know that there's a reason why he isn't getting certain gear for review, then he makes sure to get an honest review posted even if manufacturers dont like it. Very refreshing!

Maybe I stepped on too many toes myself with this post, if you have read anything I have posted, you know this is very typical for me to go against the grain. I have no problems with people and their own choices, I just don't care for big corporations that stifle progress and use sites like this to spread propaganda and target interests in way that changes overall ways of thinking just to keep blinders on consumers so they can get their money.

Phrases like "off axis sound" have their place in this hobby but by no means is it the most important factor when listening to a stereo playing back a music track. Not every crossover needs to be "fixed" regardless of it's age, there was a brief period when a bunch of bad capacitors were made (2000-2008) it affected lots of electronics made in the time period. Yes, if you own electronics made then (why would you, there's really nothing memorable made then) and for some reason you want to keep it working, you'll need to replace the caps. To me common sense says avoid things made during that period and you'll be fine.

I'll find more off center ways of thinking to post, just might not be posting in this category much in the future.

I'm not the target market.
If your equipment rack looks like it came from a Mc showroom, it might be the perfect fashion accessory.
But, I'm not big "brand loyal" kind of guy.
 
You are way behind.. The have introduced a new MC 451 150 watt Tube/300 watt SS amp with crossover network to bi amp speakers with. I'd be perfect for the Klipsch Jubilee or the JBL DD67000 for instance. Its a mono unit. They have the new DAC the MDA200. There is a new Center channel speaker to go with the 1.1K speakers and then there is a new Class D Stereo Amplifier MC 1502 rated at 500 watts per channel. Go to Twitter for instance announcements or to the Mcintosh Webs site.

A friend of mine in the business has sold some and they are on back order. So some one must be buying them. The previous box was very popular too. Good place to hide your Schitt DAC or your MB20 blue tooth receiver.
 
i have seen mac's lighted birdhouse box at least once in this lifetime. although 1500 seems cheap for mcintosh, would have expected 3500 plus an up charge for the light and power cord sold separately.
 
I believe it was PT Barnum that said a sucker is born every minute.

While I appreciate brand loyalty, $1500 for a light box seems a little extreme considering what it is/does = NOTHING
 
Yes, the price is high, but does anyone else even offer such a thing? McIntosh has taken chances with other "Lifestyle" products in the past and this probably won't be the last. At least they're thinking outside the stereotypical box. Porsche has an optional carbon fiber owner's manual wallet that will cost you $900.

I voiced my dismay at this box in the last thread. But you’re right. Whatever the market will bear. And: in for a penny, in for a pound.

My brother ordered a new Jaguar a few years ago. For weeks, he meticulously, painstakingly considered every single option before he went into the dealer with his long list. The dealer looked it over and kinda laughed. “Well, if you get this in the premium leather, then you need to upgrade the interior roof ($2K) and the center panel (another $2k)…If you want this (whatever) performance upgrade, then you’ll have to have this (another $1.5K) and this ($2.5K)…” And on and on.

Turns out, my brother ended up agreeing with him on these things because the dealer, very familiar with the product, actually knew what he was talking about and was adamant about how disappointed he’d be if, at this point, he skimped here or there. Basically, he’s very happy with the car as ordered—even though it was considerably more expensive than he expected it to be.

Imagine some millionaire/billionaire going into a Mac dealer: “Now that you’ve decided on speakers, amps, sources, and a preamp…let’s sit down and discuss power conditioning, power cords, interconnects, speaker wire, wall outlets, room treatments, a record cleaner, a cartridge…and, of course, you’ll need this little McIntosh box (it’s only $1,500.00) to store all your remotes. Might as well get another one for your owner’s manuals…”

The opening is at the rear and wouldn't be easy to access the remotes inside to be able to pull them out and use them. But I guess these are just stored these days, folks teaching and using their phones for the remote function on gear.
