Heresy II Signature Edition info needed

Hi, just picked up a pair of Heresy II Signature Edition from 1986. Black lacquer finish. Little risers with nameplate on front of riser.

Came with black cloth grilles, velcro attached, no nameplates. Should there also be a Klipsch namplate on the grilles on these, or did they come originally with the just the badge on the riser? Or other grille?

Any info for these would be appreciated! Or direction to an original brochure ( if they had one).

Sound nice with my Marantz 2250, not so great with a Pioneer SX 880. Havent tried others yet.

I could swear I saw a similar thread recently about the same thing, I think they were availible via military base PX. Look around here or the forums @ klipsch

POINT/Question 1 - Nameplates were probably put on the riser by some previous owner - NEVER seen nameplate badges on riser [ wouldn't make much sense from marketing standpoint - KLIPSCH would want there marquee easily seen ]. As always with any vintage research, go look at currrently availables on eBay, then Completed listings and you will see how badging is always placed [ usually top center ] but for these special editions its bottom right position as in pics in link for same speakers for sale.

Question 2 - No, the Klipsch Nameplate/badge is always ONLY on the speaker grill - when there is a speaker grill. Badges have never been on risers to my knowledge. From actual KLIPSCH brochure in my possession - "The "Signature Edition" is constructed of selected walnut wood veneers and comes with a cane-colered grill cloth, special brass logo with Paul W. Klipsch's signature and a mounted flat riser base." , see link below for more.

Serial Numbers as pictured in link below and on my speakers begin with 86. FYI I purchased my speakers new in box on 10/19/1986. [Special Edition was for 1986 only- see my first post in link below for more detail on this]. If yours say 87 , yes I would say they are probably 1987.

Veneer was listed as : TYPE HII-WO [HII = Heresy II ,WO = Walnut Oil] just exactly like in pics in link below.

Any ways thats how the 1985 Klipsch Heresy II - Signature Edition speakers look that I have. They however are incorrectly listed as 1985 , they are 1986 [ from a Klipsch Brochure on that exact model I got at the time - 1986] in Germany at an AAFES Army Post exchange - see my other post. For reference AAFES = Army AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE.
I think this ad is just the same ad I saw in February and its STILL in some archive at this Korean site that shows
ebay ads.

As I mentioned in my other post [ its a very thorough description, including original ad wording I typed right from an ad from 1986 ] the speakers grill is just exactly like these pics. Cane is the only grill I ever saw and the badge is mounted like in pics [ bottom right ] and says :
"Klipsch
Signature Edition
Paul Klipsch[signature]"

Thanks for the replys so far.

From the serial number mine are 1987 (first 2 numbers are 87) and look completely different than those Korean pics.

I have a pic now but do not know how, yet, to post it here. And it is 800kb so it needs to be reduced.

If I figure it out I'll post it. Or someone send me a pm and I'll send it all and they can post it. Gonzomeep did this once for me with my ESS speakers.

recommended amp for heresy

So, is there the "perfect" amplifier for these babies? Recommended high current?

Have read lots on "need tubes", "warm sound" etc.

Perhaps the Klipsch experts could offer opinions.

Like mentioned before, my sx 880 Pioneer sounded poor with these, Marantz 2250 better, havent tried my Sansui AU D11 II yet.:scratch2:

I have found EICO HF 81 sounds great...Tubes...as for SS...Nakamichi TA/2A or SR Nelson Pass STASIS technology, Yamaha CA-610II, McIntosh MAC1900 or MA6200...even my Outlaw Audio 7100 sounded nice...so a low of about 35wpc to 100wpc SS sounds nice and the whopping 14wpc Tube EICO sound great too with Heresys...does that help???...enjoy!

I added my Mirage powered sub into the mix for just a hint of low end, nice.

Is there a place to find an original brochure on these speakers of mine?:scratch2:
 
Well I have had these hooked to a mc4 music cocoon hybrid tube amp for my iPod.they sound great. The amp is only 15 watts, very warm sound.
 
Your Sansui AU D11 ought to sound very good on those. The Heresy was voiced for tubes the Heresy ll was voiced for sand amps, go with what spins your propeller the fastest. Congrats.
