When I rebuilt my pair of MC-30's, I took Terry's advice: 1n4007 and the resistor values he recommends in the McIntosh hints post. They have been working like champs for more than a year now.

Do yourself a favor - use the UF4007 - it's 1000 volt PIV and 1 amp rated, but unlike the 1N4007 it is fast turnoff and generates much less noise.

The UF**** and 1N**** series are in the same case. Voltage drop is identical too.
