I've been a member for several years, but not very active. Audiokarma is a great resource and like countless others I have benefitted from the knowledge, experience, and generosity of many of you here. With all the shutdowns and whatnot due to Covid, I have too much time on my hands and need to get active and practice my hobbies before the spouse finds me more things to do.
One of my hobbies is listening to music, much of it from my youth (70s and 80s) on equipment from the same period. I still have the first receiver I purchased with my own money while in high school --a MCS-3248 that still runs like new. I have an old, small beater Marantz 1520 in my garage. My favorite though is my Pioneer SX-950, but it now needs some work. So, I tend to fix it on my new-found spare time and I'll be spending more time here on the forum, learning and sharing. I also have some newer Cambridge Audio stuff too for family use.
I am a technical professional in data science and have some training and education in electrical/electronic theory (NEETS and similar studies), but very little practical experience in solid-state. I worked my way through college design drafting circuits and building panels for water treatment facilities and large-scale computer rooms, but it's been a long time. So, I hope to benefit again from the community here to get the Pioneer up and running better than new. Let the fun begin.
Thank you Audiokarma.
