Hey there, I'm restoring this McIntosh mq 101 environmental equalizer

I bought it for 150€ online, it works pretty good but it's in really rough cosmetic condition. My concerns are with the glass panel, it has severe bubbling and someone's done a terrible restoration attempt to it. I thought of buying a new glass panel, but the imitations don't come with the McIntosh logo, so I'll try to save this one by scraping and repainting it with enamel paint. I won't go on the letters, I'm afraid I won't be able to restore them. But well, I'll try my best.

Any suggestions on what to look for in these equalizers?
Anyone has ever tried to repaint a glass panel?
I'll hear your suggestions!!

Never painted/restored glass myself so I'll leave those suggestions to someone with experience. You should call McIntosh parts and see if they have any. You can also try Audioclassics. McIntosh took my number last time I needed a panel for my 2105 and said they would call me when they printed more. About 6 months later they called and I was able to get one. Hopefully they are still doing this for the 101.

I don't know about getting the lettering perfect but you could use a bottle of black nail polish to cover the missing black paint. Easy to get in small amounts and usually pretty durable.

That might work on my C-26, the only place the paint is bad is really close to the headphone jack... not into the lettering. My MC-2105 and MR-77 are still in storage (25+ yrs), I hope they held up as well as the preamp... Looking forward to seeing your MQ-101 project!
