Can anyone ID the model of these HH Scotts? S-10's? S-15's?

I know the S-10's were highly rated by Consumer Reports back in the day, I'm wondering if these would be a nice complement to my Scott LK-48 integrated and LT-100 tuner to complete a vintage Scott system.

I got some S-15, darn worth the drive. One of the few speakers that sounded good without a recap and all that, they are still original and sound nice and bright. I think they are bit taller than these though.
 
Hey Chris, been meaning to let you know I got those midranges safe and sound. I haven't piddled with them yet, but success seems imminent from what I see. I'll keep you posted...
 
They look exactly like my S-10's, beveled edge and all. Surprisingly good for what they are. Rubber/treated surrounds, a few caps per speaker, solid as a brick. I found my extremely beat up pair at a local thrift. A weekend with some sandpaper and wood oil made all the difference.

edit: The grills are one even pattern, the flash made them look weird.

That's an S-10? Could you post a nudie? The S-10's I had and S-10B's I have, employed different drivers so I'm curious about yours.

A pic of one of my S-10B's before the cabs were refinished. Note the trim around the grille (if it were present). The S-10's I had looked the same.

Pay no mind to the foam woofer surround. :smoke:

Now that you mention it, mine are missing the badges on the back and I was told that they were S-10's. I never was able to confirm that and to be quite honest I didn't try very hard. I initially thought they were S-15's but was talked out of it.

Now that I see yours I'm pretty sure these must be S-15's. So amend (append?) my previous post to say "They look just like my S-15's, beveled edge and all". All the rest stays the same. :D

edit: I just searched the archives and in June 2007 I believed these to be S-15's. The gray matter is not what it used to be.

Those look fantastic! They would look really nice sitting next to these in a vintage HH Scott system. Do the badges rotate? They're at the top on the CL pic.

I didn't put it together until your last post but you're the guy with the awesome dark face Scott's! In that case I'll further ammend my statement to say "go get them, your Scotts deserve Scotts".

The badges rotate, I'm used to having them on the bottom so I put 'em there. My pair started out similar in color to the ones in your initial picture but they had about 372x more scratches. I need to find the before and after shots when I refinished them.

They do rotate, but I suspect the cabs are upside down in the CL photo. The grills come off (with some effort the first time) and can be put back on either way, with the badge rotated as you see fit.

Scuzzer, those are very pretty--you must be good with sandpaper! Attached are a few photos of my S-15s. The one of the front shows why I think yours are also S-15s, the others are of the back, if you are interested.

Looks like an S-15 to me...

For what it's worth, these were sold with relatively nice "all in one" compact hifi systems in the late 1960s/early 1970s. I don't know if they were also sold on their own.

They really are surprisingly pleasant sounding speakers.
 
No doubt they're S-15's. I misremembered that I thought I had S-15's but they were really S-10's instead of S-10's and they're really S-15's...

And just so this post actually has content, here is a picture of the second S-15 in natural light. This one had major corner damage (on opposite corners) so I temporarily did a cut/glue/patch on them. It turned out well enough that I haven't felt the need to replace the beveled trim.
