HH Scott Receiver

I just aquired an HH Scott 342-C receiver that has problems. It has major problems with the output modules, burnt resistors beyond the point of recognition as well as toasted transistors. Does anyone have any service literature or manual for this receiver? Near as I can tell this thing is about 45 years old and I thought it might be cool to get her going again. Thanks, Harry

Hopefully someone can chime in here with some service literature for you.

The only problem you may have in restoring this piece is finding substitutes for the strange transistors in this scott. If they are using germanium transistors anywhere --good luck finding subs.

The transistors of this era were primitive devices with very low bandwidth. Finding replacements that work without oscillation can be difficult.

Best of luck to you. The classic scott gear is beautiful to look at and sounds pretty damn good. Hope you can get it running again.
 
Nope. Sadly, it's probably not worth fixing. Seek out a working one.
I have a basket case 342-C myself :-)

I have ordered the service manual for the unit. What is wrong with yours? I thought it might be neat to have her working again. I dont really know what I will use it for if I get her running, as I have more of this stuff than I know what to do with. Harry
 
Dunno. Found it on the scrap metal pile at our town dump. Fuse caps and fuses were removed. I haven't ever had the nerve to smoke test it. I suspect the outputs are shorted, but I don't know fo' sho'.
 
Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I have the schematic. The achilles heel of this design is the pots that adjust the bias open up, and cause the outputs to go into thermal runaway. Be sure to replace the pots.

just got this r337 suppose to work, it had dirty controls and weak left channel after deoxing controls it now lights up but no sound at all and stereo light not working , looking for manual or schematic thanks
