HH Scott Restored - Thank you

I bought an HH Scott 299c (late model) last year from an original owner, and restored it with the usual improvements (cl-80 thermistors on the AC in, selenium rectifier replacement, typical coupling cap replacement, new tubes, etc.) I realized the value of my amplifier early on, and soaked up information on this website like a sponge.

It is almost 3AM, and I cannot peel myself away from the stereo. I am listening with a pair of Marantz Imperial 6s, which seem to pair great with the Scott.

I am writing this to thank everyone who has provided information on this wonderful forum. It is incredible what can be accomplished with the generosity of the folks on AK. I love my setup, and am planning to keep my system for life (or until my expected kid(s) take interest). If all works out, I will pass my knowledge along to keep music playing for another generation.

I am also guilty of lurking, but if anybody needs any guidance on restoring a Scott 299C, I can provide direct input and/or recommend more knowledgeable/dedicated folk on this forum. Let' just say that I have spent a lot of time browsing/learning.

Thank you all, I have a deep respect for the engineers of yesteryear along with everyone today who carries the torch. I hope that this amp lives on past me.

Thank you all! I'll be keeping my eye out for anywhere I can help - looking forward to being more vocal at AK. The HH Scott is here to stay, but I know that I'm going to miss tinkering. On to the next project, an Atwater Kent Model 40.
 
Although I'm a Dynaco enthusiast, I will likely transition to the Scott world at some point as they seem to be exceptional.

I wouldn't hesitate if you can find one for a decent price. My only other tube equipment to compare is an old RCA console pull - also a nice sound but apples and oranges sound-wise.

The Scott is pretty busy under the hood, but it was all manageable if you take it one step at a time and keep notes as-needed. Mine uses 7591s for the power tubes, but I've heard folks raving about the smaller tube Scotts as well. Happy hunting!
