HH Scott SP440 Pair

A local acquaintance auditioned some SP440s for me recently. They actually sound quite good and are very solidly built. He'll part with them for next to nothing for the pair; they're large and taking up space he wants to use for something else and I have a couple of albums he wants. Notice the Kenwood in each cabinet. I'm sure I could pass them along to someone on a budget.

If they have real wood Veneer, they could be a deal< for the right price!
Scott speakers were not huge sellers, and don't get much love.
load them up with some real high quality drivers for a fun project.
Plenty of 12" jbl's floating around on the Bay

Pretty sure they're not real wood. If I'm not mistaken, these were made near the end of Scott's existence. Not speaking to their quality at all as I'm otherwise unfamiliar with them.

BTW, looks like you've got a damaged midrange there (6th pic), on which repairs have been attempted. It may be impossible to find a correct replacement.

I'm not really sure why so many people **** on the pre-90s Scott speakers, but these sound good and I know someone who can't afford Heresies would enjoy them. I have a pair of Scott SP-1501s in my bedroom that I recently refoamed and they will shake the house if I want. Hell, I might give them to my daughter to match her Scott 355 receiver!

Missed this before - the woofers have been replaced with what looks like automotive subwoofers.

ETA: I guess that's what you meant by "Kenwood in each cabinet". Couldn't figure out what you were talking about before.

I bet if modded to fit JBL Le14's. lots of them around, In sealed cabs with lots of stuffing
they would really shake the house. those cab's look pretty big

They are big, solid, and quite substantial. As is they sound pretty good. All the varied sounds came through nicely when he played Xanadu (Rush) through them out of the system you see in the picture.

I don't get the non love that Scott speakers get.

I'm running a pair of s-11's in my living room and they sound great.

But then after the LE14's, you would be forced to go down the Upgrade Rabbit hole
perhaps the perfect Econowave project???
