Hi All, I have a 2285B receiver I bought brand new..

I had stored it away for a long time until just recently when I'm finally retired enough to get to the point on my list that I could bust it out. I hooked up the original rtr towers I bought with it and a matching pair that I just got that kick ass. I hooked up the speakers and no sound. I wiggled the pods and got some crunch so figured they were crusty. I bought some good cleaner lube and went to work cleaning her up and BAM!! Rock and Roll. This was really a treat . It performed awesome all lights all working , no buzzes, crunching or hissing. All for speakers (2 per system) blasting. It even smelled like when I got it. The memories of Black Sabbath and Zeppelin and bitchy neighbors all came running back. Amazing. Then I went outta town for 2 months , came back ,turned it on to some crunching. So I blasted it with cleaner , spun the knobs, waited 5 or ten minutes turned it on, twisted knobs got a little crunch on system 2 on then ...2 went dead. Maybe I didnt let it dry enough? I opened it to look for fuses but dont see any. Nothing smells burnt. I'm so sad can anyone tell me what to do to fix this please?

How many years did it sit?
What cleaner are you using? Maybe give it a few more hours to dry out.
Same problem on all inputs?

Could also be the internal Pre-Out / Amp In switch on the back panel. Quick check is to put a patch cord across the PreOut to Amp In connections to bypass the internal contacts. If that works, then remove and spray cleaner into the input jacks and work with the patch cords or get in with a pipe cleaner or Qtip to try to clean the contacts. Edit: I had this problem with a 2265B recently as well as dirty contacts on Input Selector switch. Good cleaning resolved issues.

Also if didnt already...Try getting some cleaner into the Speaker Selector switches. Should be tiny holes on top to place your cleaner tip and give it a couple of good shots then work the switches a 20 times. (wedge some paper towel strips under switches to catch over spray and runoff.

Good idea to go back on the potentiometers (not switches) with FaderLube or similar to protect the carbon tracks.

If still doesn't work will have to dig a bit deeper.

Speaker 2 is dead, does speaker 1 work? Both left and right speaker?

What is the crunch you mention. Static or a scratchy sound?
