Hi All, Mike here, I meant to post this in the "introduction" area, so if somehow I mess up, please forgive as I am not so familiar with the site.
Well this is my introduction and thank you for having me (so far, time will tell), such a great place to wind up here & find you all like minded people. I wanted to make a proper introduction, so... I'm 60+ old, my first passion and career was to become: specifically, an Audio tech early on, in my 20's. I went to school for it and then I worked on the bench for about 8 yrs, doing repairs/builds in the early 80's until I realized I needed to make more $ and moved into Industrial Automation/Robotics.
Anyway now that I am old, I have set up a bench in the last 2 wks and I am diving back into my old "true love" of Audio Electronics. I'm digging out all of my old dust covered Amps and Receivers etc, & grabbed a nice Tek 2445 Scope, built a nice patch bay and have been setting up the bench.
So one of the first victims I put on my bench was an old Marantz 2325, that I bought with hard earned $ back in the 80's.... I really struggled initially, cause I am totally rusty with everything, I tore the thing right down, I mean ripped it down, going blind with no schematic and no way to know which way to turn. THEN, the point is; I stumbled upon the audiokarma site, did a search and found a full 2325 doc set, WOW!!!, downloaded it and then had eyes on things. I could barely read the schematic and wanted to ask for help, but I'm too stubborn to ask and am struggling through it for now. I think? I have isolated the pcb that is the issue, but I feel I need to lean into it before asking for help.
Point is it is great to be here with you all now and I look forward to dealing with some lie minded individuals.
Personal Interests: Audio & Stuff,
-15 yrs ago, I strung 1/2 mile of spk wire throughout the house to switch/blend zones hard wired.
-I play Vinyl, mostly because I like analog and I used to build and tune high end Turntables back in the day .
-I like reserve power headroom lots of Current. But the biggest amp(s) I have are only likely about 150w/side
-One of the coolest things I liked to do on the bench was to re-cone JBL's
-Beyond the Tech rejuvenation I am going through, I love listening to music and strongly endorse Equalization to compensate for the room and my own personal preference and hearing spectrum
-I'm familiar with most technical disciplines, I have heavy equipment so if any advice is needed, let me know
I am in just North of Toronto Ontario, in the country with a bunch of acres, not rich, but working on my 5th Million b'cause the first 4 Million didn't work out.
I hope you all accept me into the group, and I will be submitting a donation for the fantastic Marantz 2325 prints that were in the archive, don't know if I can solve the issue, but that is another story.
