Hi Everyone,
I have decided to take the next step in my home audio journey! (rejoice merrily)
I have had set ups for a few years now, but basically just ran them without much attention to the specifics (brand, specs, etc). Used to have a beautiful Toshiba turntable that I have since regifted. I have tried making the most out of thrift-store speakers and second hand buys not-too -thoroughly-inspected or investigated. I've had some successes and downfalls, and done a bit of independent work getting things working again - mostly limited to replacing needles, learning the difference between cartridges and needles, etc. But I am very out in the woods on a lot of the jargon in the field. Last year I purchased my Fluance speakers for my first step-up after losing my last system (long story), and subsequently having another one fall in my lap.
I just purchased a Realistic STA-960 in Immaculate condition, but am now having some problems with it. Problems to be discussed further in a future thread elsewhere (if you're interested in following). But basically I love this thing so much that I want it fixed, and don't want to pay the boneheads in my city the amounts they're asking just to look at it.
So, I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Not an Audiophile, just picky...in all things.
Current set up:
Amp / Receiver: Realistic STA-960
Turntable: Yamaha YP-84
Speakers: Fluance SX6
Talk more soon!
