I know they limit the amount of downloads one can make, like three a day. The resource is there for the user needing info on their unit. If someone is doing a lot of downloads they might be mining the site of all the info for other reasons, like selling or starting their own data base. I can see them having to block people from doing to much downloading if it looks excessive.

The owner runs the site as a hobby on a constrained connection, so there are significant limits. From the site FAQ:

Is there a limit on the number of files I can download?

Yes, this service is provided free of charge and our bandwidth is limited.

There are daily, weekly and monthly limits to the number of files you can download based on account name and IP address.

The limits are dynamic, constantly under review and based on a score determined by factors such as server load, IP address (some ranges are prone to high levels of abuse and are throttled), behaviour (using VPNs and proxy services may downgrade your account) and your level of contribution to the library.

Daily limits are based on activity in the previous 24 hours.

Registering additional accounts to bypass download limits will result in a permanent ban, without notice, and any IP addresses/ranges used by your accounts will be blocked from the download server.

Almost every manual or schematic available on hifiengine is available free elsewhere, e.g., https://elektrotanya.com

And it sounds like the owner may take things personally if you break the rules!

I've had some interesting offline discussions with the owner of hifiengine/vinylengine. The Reddit comments do not surprise me, as -- I state this reluctantly, as I don't like to dis other's work, but I do think a modicum of serious warning is appropriate here -- he sometimes appears to have difficulty demonstrating the level of professional detachment that one would expect of a website owner and forum moderator.

Yes thanks for your input, i know about the 3 a day limit but I cannot download anything owners manuals, service manuals at any time of day or night, I've come down to basement at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning to try and download a manual to find a value of a burnt resistor. HiFi engine was the best, it's something i would pay for just like audiokarma, it seems to be only the Illinois area of the other vintage repair people. again thanks for everyone help but what i want to know is everyone else having this same problem? can you go right now to the site and download a Marantz 2270 service manual?

yes, i know about the data base, i got a Marantz sr7009 av receiver with dc offset and hifi engine has the service manual but goes to this constant server is busy please try again, i have a onkyo Ta 2058 that i have been trying to download from late may then this problem started happening, in three years never had a problem finding something and downloading.

Pretty much everything on hifiengine can be found elsewhere.

I think I downloaded from there when I could not get the manual from hifi engine, there seems to be a production change on that schematic transistors that show on the schematic are Not located in the unit were never soldered in on the board, I replaced a missing capstan belt on this one everything works ok recorded and played back on a 3 head deck then the Led vu meters started showing a signal up past +2 db and stay there all the time with it unplugged from any signal input turn it on meters read +2 db ground pin 16 of la7612 meter ic it goes down to zero something Is on the main board.crapping out.
