Excellent list David. Regarding Technics - any EPC100 is worthy, and only the EPC205C MK III/IV have the boron pipe cantilever.

That's if you want a used cartridge. Too much like pot luck for me, especially considering how good modern cartridges are

I have At120E, grado 8mz and had Shure M97xE looking for something that improves over those carts. Looking for great instrument separation. Also running this through adcom 555 amp and adcom 555 pre amp. Also would the denon dl103d be an improvement, and work well?

After all this time, my go to would be the Ortofon 2M Black in a MM cartridge.

Wondering all the same things. Thanks for the thread. Looking for the right cart for my Thorens TD 145 mkii. Moving up from an AT120e.

Want to go old school MM? Try a AudioTechnica AT15sa.(Shibata Stylus) I'm running one in my TD160, and think highly of it.

Some love for the Shibata stylus. How similar is that to the current micro line series?
