Highest-end gear you've found at a thrift

A few months ago I found a Rotel RCD 955AX CD player for $15. But as I didn't need yet another CD player and I'm not a big fan of the Philips TDA1541A DAC chip, I didn't buy it.

I found my Fisher 800-T at a church rummage sale for $35 in 2005. Pleased to see them go for $1,100+ on EBay recently. :)

At this point, most of my gear, especially the speakers are thrift, yard sale, or trash/curb finds.
AR-3's-19.99 SA are one of my favorites though!

I haven't found all that much worth buying at thrifts over the years, but this is the list as far as I can recall:

Onkyo TX 4500 - $6
Denon DP-1200 TT - $12
Technics SL-D2 - $5
AR2a - $5
Scott 333b tube tuner - $10
Many Sony, Denon and Onkyo CDPs, none over $10
Various pair of smaller speakers, all working, none over $5

No huge scores, but some nice and useful things in the lot.

Pioneer PL-540 - $9.00 at Salvation Army
Yamaha CR-2020 - $18.00 at Goodwill
Klipsch KG 4.2 speakers - $17.99 (after my senior discount) at Goodwill
Klipsch KG2 speakers - $30.00 at Goodwill
Yamaha A-X2 Integrated Amp - $14.00 at Goodwill
And many more over the years. Their version of Epay has all but destroyed these opportunities
and the prices that people are bidding are insane. Especially for untested and non returnable items.
Please...just let me whine....

Just a few years ago I scored twice at a local second hand record store. I got a working, but needing some attention, dual 1019 for $30. Then a few weeks later I got a Pioneer 100 disc CD changer with remote for $35.

Crown DC300A Series II for $50. In 90% cosmetic and 100% operating condition at my local pawn.

Got my Denon PMA-860 Integrated at Goodwill about a month ago for $35, looks as good as it sounds.
A/D/S L-400 Speakers for $30 at another Goodwill a couple of years ago.
Not from a Thrift, a Denon CDR-W1500 I found in the garbage. Being a Garbageman has its perks!
Friday I passed on a Yamaha CT-7000 Tuner at Goodwill for $24.99.Lit up when plugged in an thought long and hard about it, but, Radio Stations in Southern Oregon absolutely sucks.

Opus

The only positive thing about that statement is that someone else got that screaming bargain.

Just a few weeks ago, I found a pair of Dunlavey Audio Labs SC-II speakers in the light oak finish at a local thrift here in SoCal. Both working perfectly and for a mere fraction of their original price. Fantastic sound and keepers for sure!! (Photo is stock, but they are just like these...only lighter)

Value Village Coquitlam BC.
I was approaching the electronics section when what do I see on the 3rd shelf at chest height?
Cherry-wood side panels,Urushi styling, checked it out .
Pioneer Elite flagship VSX-09TX receiver with phono and other inputs and beside it ,the matching DV-09 DVD/CD player...sadly,no remote.
50 dollars for the pair after I'd powered them up and got all lights, and sound thru my HD-598s I had in the car. Everything works, although they do run pretty hot.
These babies are heeeavy! Copper Clad metal case and lots of inputs on the receiver.pioneer.jpg .
Nice.
sold for 1000s when they first were introduced.
Check the early Elite series, they were built to be bulletproof and I love the look.
Check them both out online, I musta deleted the frontal pics.

I found a Yamaha DSP-A3090 at a flea market yesterday, not exactly a thrift, but it was $250, way down from the MSRP of $2000. I already had the DSP-A2070, rated for the same watts in 2-channel, so I let it sit.

Awhile back I grabbed an Audible Illusions Modulus preamp that was being tossed from a house down the street. Guys cleaning the place out handed it over for no charge. It was filthy, dusty and looking sad, but is now recapped and sounding nice.
