Hitachi - HT-324 upgrading cartridge to AT95E

Hi,

I have a Hitachi - HT-324 turntable and came across a recommendation that the Audio Technica AT95E cartridge/stylus would be a good upgrade for the original cartridge/stylus.

When fitting this cartridge does anyone know which is the best alignment tool to use?

Most Japanese turn table uses the Stevenson alignment protractor.

It is available from many on line source.

Thanks for that, a very similar diagram is in my HT-324 manual and when I first had the turntable I did adjust the cartridge as the distance was wrong. I just used a tape measure and ensured it was the stated 50mm between the two points. Is this way good enough or is it better to use the alignment protractors, or both?

Yes, you are right I have since flipped it over but this picture was taken before. I saw some pictures online which had it one way round and other pictures had it the other. When I tested each way round, it didn't skid so much with the wider ridges underneath and it looks better too

It is very similar, except the distance is 50mm on the HT-324.

Follow your Hitachi HT-324 manual's prescribe distance for your particular model at 50mm.

The distance in the illustration posted by AK member "scorpio333" is for another Hitachi turn table.

Probably the Hitachi HT-350. :scratch2:

Not all Hitachi S arm turn table uses the same factory short cut.

The pic was from the 350. Didn't realize you had the 324 manual. I usually try to get in the ballpark and test it out on a record with some distortion or sibilance or ssssss issues. Then fine tune it front to back. To some maybe that's a no-no, but it works for me. Balancing the tonearm, in my opinion, is far more important than a mm here or there.
