Hitachi HT500 Rubbing Sound

I have a Hitachi HT-500 TT and there is a metallic rubbing sound. I removed the platter and engaged the motor and I still hear it. It is not a constant sound but it seems to be once a revolution. Thoughts on troubleshooting and repair?

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same issue on my HT-500. I’ve taken it apart and saw that the spindle magnet assembly sits crooked on the motor assembly, this causes a slight rubbing. The ball bearing inside the motor assembly also showed sign of wear. I am buying a replacement bearing and will report back if this fixes the issue *finger crossed*
