Holy crooner Batman, ... Andy Williams

Since I installed my Jico D6800EEE-S Shibata Stylus, I'm on a roll to play through all of my vinyl. I'm now getting down to the LPs that I'm not supposed to like.

On today's list is Andy Williams ~ Love Theme From "The Godfather" (Speak Softly Love), Columbia CQ 31303, QUADRAPHONIC, 1972.

All I can say is WOW! It sounds fantastic. His voice is strong and clear (he really is a great singer). The orchestra is clean and precise. Have I ever heard Andy Williams like this? Should I go out and buy all the Andy Williams LPs at the thrift/GW? Do I need to hang up my Rock-N-Roll hat?

Please help me?

Here's the hardware chain:

1. Jico D6800EEE-S Shibata Stylus (new 2010 with about 113 hours on it)
2. Stanton 681EEE cartridge (new circa 1978)
3. Philips GA312 turntable with OEM phono cables (new circa 1978)
4. Yamaha RX-797 receiver via phono input (new 2009)
5. Klipsch RF-7, 2 channel (new circa 2004)

Did someone call for 1966 Batman? I got my guitar; I'm ready to jam out with Andy Williams and that heavy metal maven Pat Boone...

Think I have played this album on FM late night radio. AW does have a good voice. Hate to admit it.

Hell no, don't hang up your hat!

Ha....I read this thread, and pulled out some Andy Williams just to hear how good he sounded with my LPGear shibata and 681EEE. Pretty darn good. Then I switched out the shibata for a stereohedron I recently found. I think I may be a AW fan now, too. What the stereohedron does for vocals is beyond words.

And don't feel bad for liking Andy Williams voice. Nelson Muntz on the Simpsons is a huge fan.......remember the episode when they drove through Branson, MO? He made it ok for all of us to play Moon River & Canadian Sunset.

Hey, it feels great to inspire you. Which Andy W do you have?

Seriously, there's been an Andy collection at my local thrift since summer- 50 cents each.

LOL - Thanks, but I'll have to pass - I think I have too many in my collection. My mom is a big fan, so they are from her mostly. From the Family album to the Hawaiian album, to the Christmas album, and probably most of the rest. I do run across some at the thrifts I haunt, but I'm never tempted. :D
