Hi everyone i own naim muso 2, but i am looking to upgrade it, since i dont justify the price tag price/per quality i receive. my unit is still brand new with warranty so i plan to sale it and get something else.


I live in rented place so i dont have big or huge space, do you think kef ls 50 wireless ii is good upgrade option or not?
If Kef wireless ls 50 ii is not a good option what you can reccomend i will preffer if possible all in one wireless solution , because my previous set ups was with cables which i dont like cables amps and things which consumes tons of space...
other option is KEF R3 ,or perlisten s4s , i am not sure if i will be able to afford them, 2nd option,
or kef meta, which i think will be not enough quality for me. i cant hear any of these speakers since they are not sold in my country so i will buy them online and import them from abroad.
any other options are welcomed.

For example Kef have several reference sounding systems
Kef muon speakers, KEF blade speakers, Kef reference speakers - so i am looking for something simular to this in terms of perfomance and quality and sound reproduction but in way smaller package i will love to have 3 way book shelve speakers and dedicated amp for them.

For example kef R3 uses some of the reference 1 technologies.

other brands also have reference class...
i plan to combine my speakers with class a/b amp, i want to have stereo speakers for which i will listen to music mostly , so i dont care how well they will represent movies etcs.......

Unfortunately Muon is ultra expensive , blade very expensive, series and reference 1 series are very expensive speakers...
So i can opt either for R3 or some other brand which can offer simular or better performance speakers more to the high end reference sound.

Again most high end brands have reference class speakers ultra high quality 2 or 3 way book shelves.

Hi elf40, welcome to the forum! Some current speakers, if you want bookshelf models, that you might look into along with KEF are the Dynaudio Special 40, the Revel M105, the competing Monitor Audio models, just to mention a few.

muon is 1st, after that blade, and reference 1,
they have some common and some different technologies inside..... they are for different budgets and for different rooms and specs...

What exactly is "reference sound", and "reference to what or whom". The definition will mean something different to me versus the teenage hellions I teach during the week.

With proper amp they produce reference sound from the company kef other companies have simular series ultra high end, and they produce simular reference sound as well..
so i am looking into these speakers but in compact format and budget friendly option bookshelves 3 way speakers which will cost me at least 2000 euro or more,depends on the condition brand specs etcs...

My budget is 5000 euro which is around 4999$ usd dollars i cant afford these+ shipping + vat + custom charges sorry.
Is there something else.

I have a pair of Infinity Reference Studio Monitors that I bought new in 1983.
3 ways, still sound good to me
So not only are they REFERENCE they are STUDIO and MONITORS.
"BEST" of all worlds.

Oh, and anyone can say anything is the "best".

Didn't Fisher call their cheap, crappy, early 1990s components: Studio REFERENCE standard?

Yet, they were completely correct as they "referenced" tiny full-range drivers placed in coffee cans as speakers and the incomparable sound of a stretched 8-track tape, which had baked in the sun, played through a 1960s mono earbud.... I was going to say "Bose speakers", but not even I am that cruel (yet )!!

Reference speaker even 1983 sounded amazing, so even today its still probably good for most people, i want something not that vintage. something made after 2010 or even after 2015 if possible i already have several vintage speakers....
which i no longer use due to various reasons.

I agree, you seem to be caught up in nomenclature. Reference means nothing (to me at least) outside of a name of a series of spkrs from a manufacturer. Usually, it denotes their higher end like a Premium line but Premium doesn't have that audiophile appeal to it so Reference it is. You want a nice sounding, 3 way wireless bookshelf speaker. Doesn't matter if its referred to as reference, premium, studio, etc. Your price range is up to $5000 USD. What sound characteristics are you looking for? Neutral? Good, tight bass response? Crisp highs? Foreward midrange? Forget the reference part of the equation.

i am still divided between wireless and wired, i really want something
extremely well made , Not another made in china product.

So i want some speaker where a lot of good quality work and materials

are put and sound amazing, my best ideal choise will be so far wired
kef reference 1 but i cant find them used i find them at their price like new non meta version and i also need to buy some good amp and other stuff.... so its out of the budget
otherwise its easy choise.
i want speaker to be clear, to have better low/mid//high compared to my naim muso 2 and to be louder of course and if possible i can power that speaker with class ab amps.

I dont know how to explain it better but in my car i have pioneer p99rs player made from cooper chasis , mosconi pro ab amps 120w per channel each,
focal utopia tweeters, audioson thesis sax ii speakers, audioson sub and all these sound really amazing combined i want simular set up for my home.

If the Blade is *reference class*, then I choose and enjoy better. Tiny, not lifelike image.

If you like the "KEF sound", then try one of their LS50 variations.

I'd go wired. Wireless sounds nice but you pay a premium for having power amps in speaker and built in Bluetooth. A really good Bluetooth receiver like BlueDento HD does Aptx HD BT codec (cd quality sound) for $80 USD. Get a nice integrated amp and wired speakers and forget it. What difference does it make if you have speaker wire or power cords coming from your speakers? Look at a nice Yamaha, Onkyo or Denon integrated. Yamaha A-S801 is 100wpc and $900. Leaves you $3000 - $4000 for wired speakers. You can spend less and still get great sound. Canton Reference (no joke) 9K are $3600 a pair and I'd suggest much better than Kef.

You can choose wireless or reference. Can't have both. Sorry. Wires and cables are necessary if you want reference.

"Reference" in audio usually means 'something all others are compared against.'

You probably won't get 'reference sound' with only a $5k budget; see the Wilsons above. You will also need $10k for your amplifier, $10k for your preamp, and maybe another $10k for your source(s). Let's not forget, sky is the limit for all the cables.
Now you talking reference. Something you can compare your present set up to and only wish to attain.
