Home Depot record shelves?

For someone with no tools, and lacking skills - this isn't a bad solution.
Not my style, but it would sure work for some folks.
 
This made me LOL. Not related tot he quality of the product, but I'm sure others noticed this:

I don't think I've ever seen a worse piece of equipment used in an ad. It reminds me of the Marantz ad...

I think they were going for that industrial look, that thing has been dirtied up - the grime dispersal pattern is all wrong to be a bona fide dumpster find - Also note the shiny bits - like the TT platter, yup, all fake - no natural nastiness there
 
With some additional reinforcement these could make decent/functional speaker stands. Depending on the dimensions I may actually do just that and add some feet to the bottom. For mass storage I definitely go the Ikea route but still
feel that their stuff needs extra reinforcement. For super robust storage out of the box the Office Max/Depot (whatever they are now) Magellan shelves are super heavy/tough with no bend in eight years of use (but cumbersome to move
around).

I don't know why anybody would waste time on fake dirtiness. Perhaps it was cleaned up a bit or the 'table was 'grafted' on via image editor or maybe just greasy, grubby hands that never touched the TT! Regardless. it's not a good look for a product picture.

Like I said, they were going for an industrial look, photographers do all sorts of weird **** to the subject to get the right look.

Photographer probably had to work with the subject to get the right shot. Note the "pouty" look of the face.....
 
My biggest beef is that the manufacturer states "maximum load of 30 lbs". Well for a single shelf holding 85 LP's my guess is that's a tad more than 30 lbs, probably closer to 50 lbs..."If you could fill the shelves with LP's that's how many it would hold, but we're not saying you should do that". I guess that explains the half filled shelves in the picture. I wonder if the Z-board will even accept a wood screw without stripping out on the last turn.
 
If you've got the room, these would work. I use 'em and they ar ejust about perfect and they come in various sizes and colors.

I bought a couple of cubes in this basic design...2, 3 and 4 compartments from an unfinished wood store...stain to taste and good to go!
 
Each shelf holds up to 85 records - 16.4 inches only?
Good for a beginner.

Yes...way over-priced for what it is.

I just build my own from ¾" plywood with dado grooves for the shelves, and a center divider for strength. The back is 5mm underlayment plywood, to prevent shelf sag, and racking. To keep it off the floor, the bottom is rabbet cut 2"x6" (inside) edge profiled on the outside. And topped with a crown molding.

I am more worried about weight bearing of the records per shelf. I am sorry I should have stated that. I don't want to overload shelf. I know 100 records are about 55 pounds give or take.
