I recently picked up a pair of EV sp8b extended range 8" speakers. I tried them open baffle but was not elated enough to keep them there. I have been reading up on the EV Esquire and would love to build a pair to drive with a Magnavox 8601 tube amp. The drivers I have around to augment the sp8b are as follows..
Horns: Jensen rp103s(Heathkit version) or the Foster 49-1166 horn ( Zenith Allegro)
12" woofers: Wharfedale 12" ceramic (w60/w70 ported)
Alternatively I have some Jensen coaxial H223F (I could use these with a higher tweeter cutoff and placed above the sp8b so the tweeter is ear level.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

Another idea was to disable the tweeter in the Jensen Flex air coaxial 12". Ill have to look at some Jensen box plans. I do already have some boxes that would work, seal the mid in its own space. I don't have any equipment to measure driver parameters but I think I'm on the right track.
