Hooked up my 1999 Cerwin Vega E-312's for the first time!

Big Tuna

Too Much Power!
Finally hooked up my E-312's for the first time since buying them brand new in 1999! Powered them with my spare Pioneer SX-1980 receiver. Played my rare James Horner composition from the movie "Batteries not Included" CD, and mannnnnnn, these are even better sounding than the ones I heard in the studio! 98dB sensitivity @ 1W/1M, and 111.2dB @ 10 watts of power! Made my garage sound as if a live band was in there rehearsing! Midrange in these is Very smooth, accurate and one of the best I've heard on ANY speaker. Very clear and clean highs. Bass is very solid, quick and tight. Really are one of the best sounding CV's I have heard. These really do project a very good quality sound, even at very low volume, the tiniest nuances can be heard very clearly. Alot of bang for the buck, too!

nice speakers. I have a pair of vs150s that I love. I've had them abt 7-8 months and every now and then I'm still blown away by them. How the hell did you manage to go a decade without ever hooking them up?

Well, I never got tired of my LS-408B Kenwoods and in the boxes they stayed. The local dealer had a nice demo room with a pair of E-312's and I just melted when I listened to them, so I bit the bullet and bought a pair. Several times, however, I did nearly get them out to use, but ultimately didn't.

You bought brand-new speakers, and didn't try them out for ELEVEN YEARS?!

Now I think I've heard it all.

Boy that's a novel story, I'm sure that system rocks. I'm not too familiar with that model, is that a 10" woofer?

I just picked a pair of CV VE12's, same general set up as yours, 3 way speaker with 12" woofer, 33" tall. No driver controls though. It does seem a little bass heavy so I've backed them off the back wall a bit. These are heavy duty speakers, meant to driven hard. In fact I think to get the most out of them you need to stand away at least 15 ft and just soak it in.

Not a subtle speaker at all and a lot of sound for the money. Good luck with yours, they look sharp.

My babies are gone! They are now in the clutches of Hoodcom!:cry:

Chime in, Cody, and say something :D
