Needs cleaning... But

Put the STA-2080 into my main system today, will be using it for a few day. I do this every so often. This receiver is 100% stock. I guess I should replace the power caps one day :D

IMO, the STA-2080 is a monster.

80 Watts per channel @8 ohms.

Not only one of the prettiest at night, but it sounds great. Very clean and crisp, not tubby at all as claimed for some other RS offerings at fmtunerinfo. Nice imaging and sound stage and tuner is pretty good too.

The STA-2080 is my personal favorite in the Realistic line. I have a STA-2100D and a STA-120B, but I would love to have the 2080 for its looks.

The 2100D has a nice pre-amp, but I think the amp is a bit muddy sounding when pressed hard. The 120B is clean sounding but no pre-out/main-in connectons.

What kind of speakers will you be hooking up to this classic?

Right now Klipsch KG-4 which are the ones I use with my Fisher 500C. I have a pair of RS Mach Ones (40-4024) I like to use with this receiver. They just look good together :D I will get around to hooking them up later tonight or tomorrow.

I have a STA-2000 and a STA-2080 and like 'em both!!:thmbsp:
The 2080 is one of the finer looking recievers ever made in my IMO!

I just bought one a few weeks ago for 70 dollars and its beautiful! I love the sound of it too hooked up to JBL L100t's with a technics turntable. I like the looks of it better than my Sansui 9090db.

Nice vintage piece from the days when the Rat Shack actually had a few items worth buying.

I bought mine for $30 at goodwill about 14 months ago, its been within a close group of family and friends and has finally replaced a HTIB receiver in our living room.
I did not know it weighed almost 50 pounds though!!
