Hooking up grado cartridge

Possibly a stupid question, but I'm trying to hook up grado gold cartridge to my Thorens TD160 headshell wires. On the cart I see a G (green I suppose) R (red) then two L's... as opposed to a B for blue and a W for white. Wires comming from the headshell are Green Red, Blue and white.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have the instructions on hand? There's a diagram that will show you which is which, just keep in mind it's viewing the cartridge from the back and upside down.

Good cartridge, by the way. I have a Silver and I really like it, but it's very sensitive to proper setup.

looking at the instructions, the blue wire looks to be at the upper left side and the white wire is the lower left hand side. Hope that helps :)

don't have the manual

...unfortunately
I also looked around on the grado site, but didn't see anything. sort of odd. i'm sure it's out there somewhere!

Not sure but I'm kind of thinking R=right and G=ground.
L would be left and check to see if the G sits between R+L.
One of the L's is Ground. and one is hot.

Grado pin-out with the stylus pointing to the sky.....
o ----------------------- Blue - Left Ground
------ o ---------------- Green - Right Ground
o ----------------------- White - Left Hot
------ o ---------------- Red - Right Hot

Thats what it looks like:thmbsp:

got it all going thanks everyone. onto the next set of tweaks . i'm sure i'll have more questions soon. thanks so much.

for sake of an old thread. Grado used "SME Standard". the pins point directly at the same color code the wires in the headshell are. no crossing of wires, no X pattern in the wires.

I'm lazy and just check where the colours go on my other carts. I've more headshells than carts so that makes it easy

Can anyone please tell me what are the differences between the Grado red 1 stylus and the 2, are they the same, and will the they both fit the green cartridge?

Thank you Lorenzo47, ( shouldn't that be Rossi47), I have fitted the Red stylus to my green cartridge and I'm pleased with it, terrific sound.

Grado claims that the effective tip mass on the 2 has been lowered a bit compared to the 1. Either will fit and will work just fine on your cartridge body. The 2 is claimed to have slightly enhanced performance but whether or not you can hear the difference is something I can't answer. Basically if you have a choice between the 1 and the 2, go for the 2 as it's the newer design.
