How about a Silvertone Medalist console for a tube amp project?

I'd like to get the guts out of a console like so many I read about here, and hopefully end up with a tube amp. This console has two tubes in the preamp, I can see them, but I don't see the amplifier section. Is it likely to be tubes too, and is the Silvertone/Sears brand worth messing with? Beautiful console, I must say, but I really don't think I'd keep it as a console.

I decided "What the heck!"

Everything seems to be there and it looks as simple as anything I am liable to find. The preamp handles the record player and has a tape input and two aux inputs. So I am going to start down this road, hopefully with suggestions from you all. What's next?

The middle pic is the amp. Looks to be a push pull EL-84. A very desirable amplifier. You may be able to use the pre as well since it doesn't have a tuner in it. Nice score!

The tubes are

5U4 6BQ5

6BQ5 6BQ5 6BQ5

7025 7025

laid out something like that. The preamp tubes are a 12UA7 and another 7025.

No model number I can see. Please note the connections for sources into the preamp. What to you call that? Can it be made compatible with RCA type connections? Thanks.

"Oddball plug?" Easiest to just add some RCA jacks in parallel, since there's only the one mating plug...

See the 3-prong female connections in the pic of the preamp? That's what I mean, although you may have answered my question and I just don't know it.

With those tubes, what kind of output are we talking, what kind of speakers? Does it make sense that I don't see any fuses? The model number may be 280, although I think that refers to the mahogany veneer.

Thanks, CG
