These have been hanging out around the edge of our yard on and off for a few weeks. They grazed and napped from sunrise to sunset today, only leaving for a half hour a couple of times. This is in the middle of a subdivision of 2/3 acre lots.

We try to keep this hawk away from the bird feeders. Even the squirrels lie low whenever he is around.
That's shot from about 50 yards away, with another 20 or so to the neighbor's house.

Snow has melted here even though it's still very cold in northern Illinois.

Some more denizens of my garden,... all caught and safely released into the river bottom wildlife preserve at the end of the road.
THis guy was every inch of 7' long - Gopher Snake
It stretched from the blue vase on the beige wall, to behind the stone seat, where I could not see its head. That distance is 6'6", between the vase and stone seat.

The constant rain has not been good for almond pollenization this year. A light rain yesterday knocked a lot of the bloom off the trees. This particular variety is supposed to be self-pollinating, but studies have shown that bees improve the crop. Bees don't work in the rain. We'll see when the nuts set.
