How are there now only 9 pages of New Posts each day? Used to be in the 30s

I have realized that no matter how many days between logins, there are only ever 9 pages of New Posts. Before the changeover, I would see up to 40 pages.

What are we missing? Or do they roll off the bottom of the 9th page as new ones come to the top?

I don't believe we have a New Post option anymore,,,,,,,,, rather it seems to always just give the last 9 or 10 pages of the most recent posts.

I liked the New Post in the old program much better.

Several posts I have been posting in the "Off Topic Forum" in the last about 30 minutes are NOT listed in the New Posts, Hyfi!

Questions, questions, questions...!

Can we all show some Patience while the software upgrade is completed? To move a site this large to new software with new and updated security will take some time. The old software was no longer supported, so protect the site and our members/subscribers the change was needed. Same place, different software.
Regards,
Jim

Jim,

Thanks, I wasn't bitching, just asking if this is how it works now. I post at Audio Shark and they also recently did something similar with New Posts. You never see your own posts, even if you just created or responded to one. But if you are in a post, there is another available selection from Quick Links dropdown, then Today's Posts. Then you see your own. It doesn't look like that is an option here.

I think there is a difference between pointing out differences and being impatient.

I think there is a difference between pointing out differences and being impatient.

While this is true, this issue has been brought up and discussed an incredible number of times already. There have been, by necessity, a number of things that have "changed" due to the software shift. It is my understanding that every effort is being made to make things "as they were" for the most part, but that it's going to take some time. There will likely even be some things that cannot go back to how they were, and that will just have to be dealt with. It was not by choice, but by necessity. Personally, I very much welcome the shift, because as the years went on, I got continual warnings about security regarding my favorite forum on the internet, was unable to use certain features, and had to read more than a few postings about security breaches and intrusions. This was likely only going to get worse, with discontinuation of support for the old software.

Regarding Jim's request for patience, I don't think it's unreasonable in the least. It's exactly what we need. A little poking around the many many threads about the differences, changes, desired changes / updates / features, etc, there's a wealth of threads and posts covering this. On one hand, nobody likes to feel reprimanded for asking a question, but on the other, I think there's a certain responsibility to look a bit more closely and join a conversation rather than reinvent one.

It's a lot like tennis, it's all how you serve it up, pointing out issues is a needed and useful tool as we work through the upgrade.

Jim

I agree,,,,,,,,,,, don't think either the OP or myself were being accusatory,,,,,,,,, just stating the differences.

Apparently the new post will not include yours because they are....yours. The ten pages thing has been addressed by Grumpy in response to a post I made. He said he was going to find an answer to that issue and try to get it changed.

Well it would be nice if my post were apparent to be. I mean it's all about me, right ? Or as Bugs Bunny would say 'enough about me what do you think about me!' OK I'll just hold my breath until things get all worked out. I'm saying this in jest.

Im trying to be patient but its not real fun posting a thread to be LOST in data land or respond to one that your never alerted to. Only way I can tell is if I look at my upper right area and see my content.. At first I had a red number to notify me as well as the mini avatar on the thread which is how I know now IF I FIND it in the 10 most recent posts ! I know its a change but its not a smooth one so far.. I find my self losing my desire to see the last recent 10 pages of posts.. and chasing my replies!

I may never see this post again WHO KNOWS !

Here it is! :)

If your thread is not the 10 newest even though others have responded you cant seem to converse !

As has been pointed out, AK is still under construction.

Meanwhile, if this has become a hardship for you, you might want to think about your life in general and why your life might have become so unravelled by the changes here.
